What kind of classes are taught?
Carolyn
Clarke teaches both group and private lessons. Group lessons allow for
games and partner poses. Private lessons allow Carolyn to work with your
child to address his or her individual needs. Private lessons would be
particularly helpful for children with Attention Deficit Disorder or
children that need assistance in developing strength, concentration,
focus, relaxation, etc...
How do you teach yoga to children?
Carolyn uses over 200 YogaKids poses to keep each
class fun, educational, and entertaining. The poses are based on traditional
yoga poses, but they have been adapted for the child’s body and attention. These
poses are mixed and matched into lessons with games, stories, music,
and more. We sing, dance, stretch, and have fun!
What is the class format or typical class like?
Circle Time- Icebreakers, Name Games, Sharing, and Warm-up
stretches
Yoga Poses- Individual Poses, Games, and Partner Poses sometimes using
the props listed above. Science, Math, Music, Anatomy, or Language Arts
integrated into the yoga poses.
Storytime- Reading a story and acting it out in with yoga
Drawing or Craft
Quiet Relaxation and Visualization
What should kids bring to class?
Children should bring
a mat with them to class. They should wear loose clothing that allows
them to move easily. T-shirts, shorts, sweat suits, or leggings are perfect.
